Our Choc' o Nut Delight: a gluten-free chocolate cake in a class of its own.

Isabella's gluten-free chocolate cake is one of our absolute classics! It consists of a delicious sponge with ground hazelnuts and is super aromatic, wonderfully moist and yet not too heavy, without any icing or filling. Isabella has completely dispensed with flour and refined sugar, but has not skimped on whole chocolate chips. Doesn't that sound too good to be true?

Hazelnut

Hazelnuts are an indispensable part of the kitchen: they are perfect for cakes, pastries or as a topping and are available whole, shelled, chopped or sliced. In addition to their great taste, the small nuts are a real source of energy. Despite their high calorie content, they are quite healthy and are full of fats, proteins, vitamins, fiber as well as magnesium, zinc, calcium, iron and selenium.

Erythritol

Like birch sugar or isomalt, erythritol is a sugar substitute and can therefore be used as an excellent sugar substitute for baking and cooking. Compared to conventional household sugar, it has a sweetening power of around 70% and therefore needs to be dosed slightly higher. As erythritol has no effect on blood sugar and insulin levels, diabetics can also use the calorie-free substitute without any problems.

Rapeseed oil

Rapeseed oil is the most popular oil in Germany, ahead of sunflower and olive oil. And not without reason, because it convinces with various positive properties. For example, rapeseed oil is the cooking oil with the lowest saturated fat content. In addition, rapeseed oil has a good omega 6 value and is a comparatively good source of omega 3. By the way, rapeseed is a plant species from the genus cabbage within the cruciferous family.

Birch sugar

Birch sugar is also known as xylitol and is a sugar substitute, an alternative to household sugar. It was originally made from birch bark, but today corn cob residues, straw or cereal bran are also used. Xylitol is very similar to household sugar: it tastes just as sweet and has a similar consistency. Birch sugar has hardly any effect on blood sugar levels, which means it can also be used by diabetics.
